When Marianne has something on her mind, she is determined to achieve it. For instance, this Belgian-Limbourgian Sprynger had set herself a goal: to emigrate to the Netherlands before her 27th birthday. The day after her 27th birthday, she received a call from Spryng's Operations Manager Sara who made her an offer to join Spryng. Mission accomplished!
In this article in the 'Meet a Sprynger' series, meet Marianne Vols, Business Development Manager for Belgium and Luxembourg. In her role, she is responsible for building Spryng's market position in the BELUX region.
Rotterdam goes Amsterdam
Before Marianne accepted Spryng’s offer, she traded Brussels for her first Dutch love, Rotterdam. Marianne discovered the city when she went there two years ago to study at Erasmus University as part of an exchange programme.

Although Rotterdam and Amsterdam are rival cities in terms of football, among other things, Marianne is not bothered by this. “Amsterdam too does not have one nice central place. All neighbourhoods have their own character.” She herself likes to visit the Pijp, the Jordaan and Oud-West.
Marianne is delighted with her new home in Amsterdam. Although she misses her family and friends in Belgium, she is excited about the new experiences and opportunities she has in this city. She appreciates Amsterdam’s cultural diversity and dynamic atmosphere, and enjoys the numerous restaurants, cafes and attractions the city has to offer. Although she misses Belgian beers, gin and real Belgian fries, she has discovered that Amsterdam has a similar gastronomic scene, and she has enjoyed discovering new flavours and experiences.
Smashing targets and part-time dog spotter
Other things the Flemish business developer enjoys doing when she is not developing a business are listening to podcasts, 90s classics, or French music. Perhaps even more critical to Marianne is her love for man’s best friend, dogs. She does not hide this one. Watch our words: a dog will come into Marianne’s life within a few years.
She grew up with dogs and her parents still have two labradors. The dog gets nervous when she calls her parents because she thinks Marianne is nearby. For now, she (unfortunately) settles for the dogs she meets in the Vondelpark ánd Spryng’s part-time office dog Gijs. To be continued…
Strong connection with native Belgium
The great thing about the job at Spryng is that, although living in the Netherlands, Marianne maintains strong contact with her native country. Indeed, she is in daily contact with Belgian customers to advise them on how best to use Spryng’s messaging services. Belgium is a bilingual country and she therefore still speaks Flemish as well as French every day.

Her expertise is mainly in the healthcare and tech sectors. Before joining Spryng, Marianne had no background in healthcare. In a short time, she has become an expert on communication and interoperability within the Belgian healthcare sector. A side effect she did not think beforehand she would find so cool.
The job as a business developer offers many opportunities for further development. Not only developing expertise within various sectors but also discovering all aspects of sales. In addition, every business developer at Spryng is also heavily involved in marketing and positioning in the responsible market. In this capacity, she also works on website updates, e-mail campaigns, and success stories. Something she also does well.
